About Us
The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Issues TIG provides visibility of and
support for LGBT issues within AEA. The TIG serves LGBT-identified evaluation
colleagues, LGBT allies, and evaluators interested in working with LGBT populations. It provides a safe forum to explore LGBT
issues within AEA and in the profession.
The TIG promotes better understanding of LGBT issues
through developing and sponsoring LGBT-focused conference programs,
providing support and guidance for evaluators working with LGBT related issues,
and by further enhancing and supporting the diversity efforts within AEA and our
profession.
How to join the LGBT Issues TIG - All AEA members can join this TIG as one of the five TIGs each member is entitled to become member of. For information about joining AEA TIGs, visit AEA's TIG webpage.
Even if you do not join, be involved with the TIG's activities - Even if your professional needs require you to select five TIG's other than the LGBT Issues TIG, we encourage you to attend our business meetings and other sessions sponsored by our TIG at the AEA Annual Conferences. This year's sessions are listed in the Conference section of this site.
Submit a paper or panel presentation As the smallest TIG in AEA, our acceptance rate of papers is very high, and we welcome ideas. We will work with you to form a panel with other persons, if you wish. Just contact one of our Program Chairs (in the "Directory" section of this site). Learn more.
Attend Conference sessions sponsored by this TIG Your presence ain sessions sponsored by the LGBT Issues TIG are the most important contributions you can make to help TIG thrive. Our activities are listed in the "News" or "Conference" sections of this site.
Come to our Social held each year at the AEA conference. We meet at a restaurant, and the TIG provides appetizers. A time to "let your hair down" and meet colleagues. Check the "News" and "Conference" sections of this site for information. (Usually posted in late summer.)
Submit articles to AEA journals We very much encourage you to consider submitting your manuscripts on issues related to LGBT and evalaution to the prestigious AEA journals - The American Journal of Evaluation (AJE) and the New Directions in Evaluation (NDE). AJE accepts free-standing articles while NDE typically accepts proposals for single volumes on a particular topic. If you need assistance in developing ideas for manuscripts or with submission process, please feel free to e-mail any of the TIG leaders listed on this site.
Join our listserv -You can also join our listserv (on google groups) where you'll be connected to others interested in LGBT issues in evaluation. Traffic has been very low--invitations to submit proposals to the next conference, announcements about conference sessions, invitation to our annual social at the conference, and report of the conference business meeting. If an important issue pops up related to LGBT issues and evaluation, traffic may pick up. Learn more.
